Frequently Asked Questions

What’s your hourly rate?

We don’t charge by the hour. Instead, we charge by the job. The cost depends on the type of work and the complexity, which includes risk factors, ease of access, current conditions, etc. Keep in mind, we have a minimum job charge depending on your location:

  • North County: $90 ($70 in Atascadero)

  • San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay area: $120

  • Five Cities area: $150.

What’s your availability?

Depending on the season, we’re available within the next couple days for smaller jobs, but sometimes our schedule is booked out a week or more. However, we do offer same-day emergency service for an additional fee.

How big of projects do you take on?

Right now, we focus on smaller projects (2-3 hours or less per project). For example, we don’t do full remodels or renovations, but we’ll replace a bathroom faucet or a toilet. Essentially, I only offer services that are of a causal, minor, or inconsequential nature.

Do you [insert project description here]?

We do a lot of things! We do minor electrical and plumbing, furniture assembly, touch-up painting, shelf/picture/mirror hanging, drywall patching, and more. But there are some things we don’t do, such as roofing, new construction, structural repairs, masonry, and tile work. I don’t do everything and I don’t claim to be able to do every type of job under the sun. If I’m not 100% confident that I can provide you with a great experience and do quality work, then I won’t do it. But don’t hesitate to call, text, or email us and ask about a specific project!

What does your estimate include?

Our estimates for projects include drive time and mileage, material cost and acquisition, tool usage, and all of the administration duties to process the job and transactions, as well as the time spent and skills required to complete the project at your home.

You’re too expensive.

That’s not a question, but we totally understand! We try to stay competitive with the market, but our ultimate goal isn’t to be the cheapest in town. That’s a bad business model and not sustainable. Our goal is to communicate well, arrive on time, do great work, and provide a professional and personal touch. We hope all those things combined are valuable to you!

Are you a licensed contractor?

Since we are not a contractor, we don’t have a contractor license, and we don’t call ourselves a contractor. We specialize in small repairs and maintenance services that most contractors don’t focus on. That said, we operate as a registered, bonded, and licensed business with full liability insurance, and we let our work speak for itself.
